Nick Vujicic

Nick Vujicic was born 26 years ago in Melbourne, Australia to his parents Boris & Dushka Vujicic. He was born without arms or legs. His medical condition wasn't given a reason. Even though he does not have any limbs he does have a small foot with two toes. Nick is a motivational speaker and the director of life without limbs. Life without limbs is an organization for people who are physically disabled.
Nick was not allowed to go to regular school because Asutralian law restricted physically disabled people from going to a mainstream school. Once the law was changed Nick was one of the first pyshically disabled people to go to a mainstream school. Nick has fought against many disadvantages and does things people wouldn't have expected him to do. He can surf, swim, and golf. He graduated from University with a double major in accounting and financial planning. He has done many things, but now he is a motivational speaker. He speaks to teenagers about how you should never give up. He is a prime example for this as he has no limbs and has never given up completely. Nick has thought about giving up. When he was 10 years old he thought about commiting suicide, but he choose not to and decided to stick it out.
To me and probably many other people Nick is an inspirational person. He inspires us with how much he was able to do with his life with what he was given. Instead of sitting around feeling sorry for himself Nick goes out into the world and motivates teenagers. He teches them to never give up and to always look on the bright side.

William Kamkwamba

William Kamkwamba is from a small country in Africa. He is an amazing person. He was able to come from being a dropout from school to building a windmill. William Kamkwamba is an amazing person because, unlike other people in poor countries, he went and did something about it instead of just waiting around for other people from other countries to do something. He was also able to build a windmill by reading books and figuring out on his own how to build one.

I think that the concept of people building their own windmills should be brought to other poor countries. William could go to other countries and talk to them about what he did and what they could do to make their lives easier and maybe happier. Not just William but other people who learn and teach about energy could go and teach them about windmills and other technologies they can use for their own use.

I think that it is amazing how countries like Canada and the United States have all this new technology and places like Malawi are just starting to get windmills. I believe that if places like Malawi could get the knowledge and supplies that they need that they could start to get more advanced technological wise.

Microsoft Word Vs. Google Docs

Both Microsoft Word and Google Docs have many positives and negatives involving their use.

Microsoft has many positives, while Google Docs has many negatives. Microsoft has an automatic spelling and grammar check. Google Docs doesn't have an automatic spell and grammar check. Microsoft has more options and details for your document than Google Docs, so if you have more experience this document may be more rewarding for you to use. while Google Docs has less.

Microsoft also has many negatives, while Google Docs also has many positives. Microsoft has many details for your document that you can use and if you are not sure what each one does they do not come in handy for you. Google Docs has fewer details, and with these fewer details this document is most likely easier to use for people with less experience. Microsoft can only save on the computer you are using. Google Docs will save to you GMail where it is accessible from any computer.

In my opinion Microsoft Word is a better word document. I have more experience using this document and I find that with all the details and options this word document is more efficient.

Multi Touch Screen With C Dragon and Photosynth

Multi Touch Screen and Photosynth are two amazing new inventions and technologies.

Multi touch screen is a screen where multipule people can use one of the apps together. You can have as many people as you want all toughing the screen at one time. I think this technology would be better if you could do different things on it, like play games, use microsoft, or go on the internet. If the multi touch screen had these apps I would use it all the time and want to have one.
Photosynth is a new technology where many different images are tagged to one 3D picture that can be turned and zoomed in. This invention gives you a better image/picture. I think that photosynth is a very interesting technology, but I probably wouldn't ever use it. Personally this invention doesn't apply to me.

One Laptop Per Child

The video "One Laptop Per Child" is about how the XO company is giving laptops to children who live in poorer and less fortunate countries all over the world. These laptops will allow children to use them and learn. They can become connected to each other through the Internet. These laptops are able to be plugged in and charged that way, but they can be charged by attaching a crank and cranking it till it is charged. The screen is also lit by sunlight, so that by lighting the monitor it isn't taking power away from the children's laptops. The laptops also have Internet so the children can go on and learn different things on the Internet. With the Internet children can also be connected to each other through there. The laptop also has a touch and swivel screen. Laptops have already been given to poorer countries and the children their have started to use them. Any who wants to can help these children receive laptops because they have a Give One, Get One program. This is where you can help out and buy a laptop for a less fortunate child. You can also watch Zimi's story and learn more about how it helps these children.

Zero Fatalities

Zero Fatalities
I used to think that it would be okay to text a little bit as long as you looked up every little while. After I watching this video I am completely against texting while drivin, or even using your phone. In this video it shows how by taking your eyes off the road for a split second you can cause the death of two people. If I would ever be the one to cause the death of two people, I would never be able to live with myself and never be able to forgive myself. I believe that you should not text, or use your phone, and drive. It not only causes harm to you, but to others as well.

Wireless Electricity

Today we watched a video in class. It was about wireless electricity and how it works. WiTricity was invented by MIT Physicists. They wanted to invent this because they didn't want to have to use batteries or constantly plug things in. They wanted to be able to charge things wirelessly.

How Witricity works is you have part of a coil and you plug it in anywhere, then you have the other half on something else and when it gets close enough it will charge it or turn it on. When you have on of these coils plugged in it can be used to charge more than one thing. It can turn a TV on and charge a cellphone at the same time. If you owned an electric car then you would be able to drive into your garage and onto a mat and it would charge, without you having to deal with plugging it in. The coils use a non-radioactive power transfer. They pass through magnetic fields, so it is completely safe for animals and people. WiTricity is made possible because of Resonance. Resonance is the efficient energy exchange between tuned resonant objects. Resonance has very little energy transferred extraneous or of resonant objects.

Many people will buy this product once it is sold. It is a good investment because you will never have to worry about charging anything. Once you walk into your house your cellphone will charge and you wont have to plug it in. In the future i predict that you will be able to find WiTricity in households all over the world.

IP Essay

The Internet has changed the world. Everything we used to have to go out to do is now able to be done within the comfort of your own home. Like the way we communicate, pay bills, how we can get educated, and how we can shop. The Internet has made life easier.

"Back in those old days, we used to call mom on the phone once a week to check in and catch up. Now, we can log on to our favorite Internet chat client or call her on our Internet phone and talk to mom everyday." (Braxton Heitz) The way we communicate has changed. We can now go online to a chat site and talk to people over the Internet instead of having to phone them and talk to them over the phone. A chat site would also be better than a phone because you can talk to more than one person at a time.

"When it is time to pay bills, we log on to the Internet, pull out our debit cards or credit cards, and then we get to work paying our bills online. It is no longer the case where we have to sit down at the dining room table with our checkbook, a stack of bills, and a book of stamps." (Braxton Heitz) By being able to pay bills online it has change the world. We can now go online and pay bills instead of having to sit down and then take the bills to the post office. This makes life easier.

"Nearly any topic that might be of interest to us can be learned, after a trip to our favorite search engines. We could even go further and enroll at a major university online. We can now take classes and get a degree at our favorite university or college, even if we live one thousand miles away from the school." (Braxton Heitz) By being able to look up research on a certain topic it can save you time. You can find information on a certain topic you are researching instead of having to look spend numerous amounts of time looking through a book trying to find the information you need. You can now enroll for a university online. By doing this you can take classes from the comfort of your own home.

"These days, we can go online to learn all about any single product or service we might be interested in purchasing. Even better, we can look at a cross-section of products under the same classification and make an intelligent decision based on factual research." (Braxton Heitz)
Shopping online can make life easier for you. You can now go online and buy a product. While you are shopping online you can also easily find out which is the better deal for a product, and which product is better.

The Internet has changed the world. More people go online because there is more you can do online now. With the Internet we can now do more from our own home. We can even take it with us wherever we go. With everything we can do now on the Internet it has changed the world because more people are on the Internet instead of going out.

Did You Know 4.0

This video gives lots of facts about our world today. Like how we deal with tons of technology. Did you know there are 24 000 000 tvs all over America and 2 000 ooo are in bathrooms.? The way people advertise has changed. Advertising in newspapers, television, radio and magazines is dropping, and advertising in cellphones and computersis going up. The computer has changed as well. It is now a million times cheaper, thousand times faster and and a hundered thousand times smaller then it used to be. a computer used to be as big as a building and now it can fit in your pocket. This video predicted that in 25 years it will be able to fitin a blood cell. The video gave lots more facts about the world today that were very interesting that i didn't know. That is why i suggest you view the link below.

Thesis- The internet has changed the world. Everything we used to have to go out to do is now able to be done within the comfort of your own home. Everything that we used to do has now changed. Like the way we communicate, pay bills, how we can get educated, and how we can shop.
Quotes:
1. "The growth of the Web has been explosive, to say the very least. There are more people online than at any other point in history."(Wendy Boswell)
-This proves that the internet has changed the world, by how many people are on the web now a days.
2."When it is time to pay bills, we logon to the Internet, pull outour debit cards or credit cards, and then we get to work payingour bills online. It is no longer the case where we have to sitdown at the dining room table with our checkbook, a stack of bills, and a book of stamps." (Braxton Heitz)
This relates to my thesis because it states that you no longer have to go to the bank to pay your bills you can do it online. This makes life easier.
3. "Nearly any topic that might be ofinterest to us can be learned, after a trip to our favoritesearch engines. We could even go further and enroll at a major university online. We can now take classes and get a degree at our favoriteuniversity or college, even if we live one thousand miles awayfrom the school." (Braxton Heitz)
This relates to my thesis because is shows that you can learn from the internet. From doing research for a certain topic online to getting an education without having to leave the comfort of your own home.
4."These days, we can go online to learn all about any singleproduct or service we might be interested in purchasing. Evenbetter, we can look at a cross-section of products under the sameclassification and make an intelligent decision based on factualresearch." (Braxton Heitz)
This relates to my thesis because it shows how people can go online to buy a product. This is easier than shopping in stores because you can find out online which product is better and which is the better deal.
5."Yes, back in those old days, we used to call mom on the phone once a week to check in and catch up. Now, we can logon to ourfavorite Internet chat client or call her on our Internet phoneand talk to mom everyday." (Braxton Heitz)
This relates to my thesis because it shows how instead of having to call someone on the phone, we can now log in to a chat site and talk to many people at one time.

Siftables

Siftables are invented by David Merrill and Jeevan Kalanithi. Siftables are an advance in technology that are small squares, basically tiny computers. They are able to interact with each other, can sense eachother and you can change what they do by tilting them or touching them together. There are ones that can make music with where you line them up with eachother, ones that can calcutate math on, and ones that basically you play scarbble. These small squares are actually quite amazing with what they are able to do and i know that .

Sixth Sense

Sixth sense is also another great advance in technology. Sixth Sense was invented in the MIT Media Lab. The sixth sense is a pocket projector with a mirror and camera. You can use your fingers to take pictures, surf the internet, and do many other amazing things. It will make our lives easier. Once they make the size smaller and improve on their invention it will become a worldwide seller.

Epic 2014

Epic 2014 is a video about media and the internet. It is made to look like we are in the future looking back on 2014. The video is predictions about the how they believe that the web is going to expand and that by 2014 there won't be any people involved in advertiseing or in news or the media in general. It shows how google and microsoft take over the web and the news. They do this by google buying amazon and google news etc. I believe that someone like the New York Times sponsoered this video because it shows how even though we picked the internet over people its not a good thing because it says that what news thats on the internet may not be true and how by letting the internet take over we will recieve false news.
